How to Play Vertical Solitaire

Vertical solitaire is an easy matching solitaire game that uses one deck of playing cards.

Vertical Solitaire Rules

Objective

The objective of vertical solitaire is to discard all cards in pairs of matching rank.

Setup

Deal out seven tableau piles, with six face up cards each, splayed down. Deal the fourth tableau pile one more card. Place the remaining nine cards in a face up row to form the nine reserve piles.

Game Play

Each card in the row of reserve piles and the top card of each tableau pile are available for play. When two available cards match in rank, discard them as a pair.

Gameplay continues until there are no more pairs available to be discarded.

To Win

To win vertical solitaire, all cards must be discarded from the tableau.
