Simple pairs solitaire is an easy solitaire game for kids to learn, as it only uses one deck of playing cards and is easy to win.

Objective

The objective of simple pairs solitaire is to remove cards from the tableau in pairs that have a matching rank.

Setup

Deal out nine face up cards to 3 by 3 grid to form the tableau. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.

Game Play

When there are two cards in the tableau that have a matching rank, discard both cards, and refill any empty tableau spaces from the stock. Only two cards may be discarded at a time. The game continues until there are no more pairs that can be discarded.

To Win

To win simple pairs solitaire, the stock must be depleted, and all cards discarded from the tableau. If there are still more cards in the tableau, and there are no more available pairs, simple pairs solitaire is lost.
