Criss Cross Solitaire Rules
| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 1 Deck |
Objective
The objective of criss cross solitaire is to discard all cards in pairs of matching ranks.
Setup
Deal out five face up cards to form the tableau in the shape of a cross. The middle row will have three cards, one card above the middle row, and one card below the middle row. Place the remaining deck face up to form the reserve pile.
Game Play
The top card of each tableau pile, and the top card of the reserve pile are available for play. When there are two
available cards that match in rank, discard both cards. Only two cards may be discarded at a time.
If there are no available pairs, move the top card of the reserve pile, onto the middle pile of the tableau (the center
of the cross). When there is a space in the tableau, if there is more than one card in the middle tableau pile, the top
card of this tableau pile is used to fill the space, if there is only one card, then the space is filled from the
reserve.
Play continues until there are no more available pairs.
To Win
To win criss cross solitaire, all cards must be discarded in pairs, leaving the reserve and tableau empty. If the player runs out of available pairs, criss cross solitaire is lost.
