How to Play Castle Solitaire

Castle solitaire is an easy to learn and simple solitaire game.

Castle Solitaire Rules

Objective

The objective of castle solitaire is to build all four foundation piles up to the king in suit.

Setup

Deal out 10 tableau piles with five face up cards per pile. Plce the remaining two cards, face up, above the tableau, to form the two reserve piles.

Game Play

When an ace becomes available, move it above the tableau to form a foundation pile. To add a card to a foundation pile, it must be of the same suit and one rank higher than the top card of the tableau pile.

Only one card at a time may be moved. The top card of each tableau pile and the top card of each reserve pile is available for play onto a foundation pile, and other tableau piles. Tableau piles may be built up or down in sequence, in suit.

When a tableau pile or reserved pile becomes empty, it may be filled by any available card. Only one card may be in each reserve pile at once.

To Win

To win castle solitaire, all cards must be built into the foundation piles.
