Batsford Solitaire Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |

Objective

The objective of batsford solitaire is to build the foundation piles from ace to king in suit.

Setup

Deal out ten tableau piles. The first tableau pile has one card, with the number of cards increasing per pile, from left to right, until you get to the tenth pile on the right with ten cards. Only the top card of each tableau pile is face up, the rest are face down. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock. Leave room for one reserve pile that starts empty.

Game Play

As aces become available they are moved above the tableau to start a foundation pile. Foundation piles are built in sequence from ace to king, in suit.

The top card of the waste pile, reserve pile, and each tableau pile is available for play either onto another tableau pile or foundation pile. Tableau piles may be built down in sequence and alternating color. One card or group of cards in the proper sequence may be moved from tableau pile to tableau pile. If the top card of a tableau pile is face down, flip it face up.

Empty tableau piles may only be filled by a king, or group of cards in the proper sequence led by a king. When a king is available, and there are no empty tableau piles, it may be moved to the reserve pile. There is one reserve pile that may hold up to three kings. Only the top king is available for play from the reserve pile.

When there are no more moves available, flip the top card of the stock to form or add to the waste pile. There is no redeal.

To Win
