How to Play Seven Solitaire
Seven Solitaire Rules
| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 1 Deck |
Objective
The objective of Seven is to discard pairs of cards whose values add up to seven.
Setup
Deal a row of six tableau cells with one face-up card each. Leave room for six reserve cells and one discard pile. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.
Game Play
All cards in the tableau are available for play, either to be discarded or moved to a reserve cell. When a card is
discarded or moved to a reserve cell, that space is filled using the top card of the stock. When two cards in the
tableau have a combined value of seven (6 and ace, 5 and 2, 4 and 3), they are discarded together. Sevens are discarded
individually without needing to be paired.
There are six reserve cells. 8s, 9s, 10s, jacks, queens, and kings cannot be discarded from the tableau. Only one card
of each of these ranks may be in the row of reserve cells at a time. Each reserve cell may only contain one card. When
every reserve cell is filled with a unique rank, 8 through king, then the entire row of six reserve cells is discarded
together. After the reserve cells are discarded, they may be filled up again.
For example, you could move one of the 10s to a reserve cell and the king of spades to a reserve cell, and discard the 4
of diamonds and the 3 of diamonds as a pair, since they add up to seven. Then, deal four more cards to the tableau,
since four cards were removed. If no cards are able to be removed from the tableau or all cards are discarded, the game
is over.
To Win
Seven is won if all cards from the stock, tableau cells, and reserve cells are discarded. If there are still cards in the tableau, reserve, or stock, and there are no more moves, the game is lost.
