How to Play "S" Solitaire

"S" Solitaire Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |

Objective

The objective of "S" is to build the 13 foundation piles in ascending order to eight cards each, regardless of suit.

Setup

Remove one of each rank from the deck. Use these 13 cards to start the 13 foundation piles in the shape of an "S." Start the bottom of the "S" with the 7, then 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king, ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, and end at the top of the "S" with the 6. Place the remaining deck face up to form the stock. Leave room for two waste piles.

Game Play

The top card of the stock and the top card of each waste pile are available for play onto a foundation pile. Foundation piles are built in ascending order, regardless of suit, until each pile contains eight cards, including the card it started with. To add a card to a foundation pile, it must be one rank higher than the top card of the pile it is being moved to. Aces may be played on kings to continue the sequence.

When there are no more available moves the player wants to make, place the top card of the stock on top of either of the two waste piles. Cards may not be moved from one waste pile to the other. When the stock is depleted, you may redeal. To redeal, shuffle the two waste piles together and reform the stock. You may only redeal once per game. When the stock is depleted a second time and there are no more moves, the game is over.

To Win

"S" is won if all 13 foundation piles are built in ascending order to eight cards each. If there are no more moves after the stock is depleted a second time, the game is lost.
