How to Play Reversi Solitaire
Reversi Solitaire Rules
| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |
Objective
The objective of Reversi is to discard all cards from the tableau.
Setup
Deal seven columns of three cards each in a seven-by-three grid to form the 21 tableau piles. The first, third, fifth, and seventh columns are dealt face up, and the second, fourth, and sixth columns are dealt face down. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.
Game Play
Face-down cards are called “reversi” cards. If a reversi card is in between two piles that have their top cards matching
in rank, discard the reversi card and the pile to its right. For example, since the reversi card at the top of the
second column is between two cards that match in rank, the jack of clubs and the jack of spades, discard that reversi
card and the jack of spades pile. Remove gaps in a row by shifting all piles in that row to the left. If a row is
reduced to three piles, whether the top cards match or not, discard all three piles.
When there are no more moves available, deal a card onto each face-up tableau pile. Cards are not dealt onto reversi
cards. When the tableau is empty, or the stock is depleted and there are no more moves, the game is over.
To Win
Reversi is won if all cards are discarded from the tableau. If there are no more moves after the stock is depleted and there are still cards in the tableau, the game is lost.
