How to Play Reverse Order Solitaire

Reverse Order Solitaire Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |

Objective

The objective of Reverse Order is to build the foundation piles in descending order until the top card of each pile represents the reverse order of the starting layout for the foundation piles.

Setup

Remove one of each rank from the deck. Deal 13 foundation piles using these cards, with one card per pile. The first pile will start with a king, the second will start with a queen, continuing in descending rank until the 13th pile starts with an ace. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.

Game Play

The foundation piles are built in descending order, regardless of suit, until the top card of each pile represents the reverse order of the starting layout. The first pile is built down to the ace, the second pile is built down to the 2, and so on until the last pile, the 13th pile, is built down to the king. The seventh pile is still built down to the 7, even though it starts with a 7 and represents the correct rank it is building to. Each foundation pile will have a different number of cards built onto it.

Flip the top card of the stock over to form the waste pile to start the game. The top card of the waste pile is always available for play onto a foundation pile. To add a card to a foundation pile, it must be one rank lower than the top card of the pile it is being moved to, regardless of suit. Kings may be played on aces to continue the descending sequence. If the waste pile is empty, or the top card of the waste pile cannot be played onto a foundation pile, flip the next card from the stock over to form or add to the waste pile. When the stock is depleted and there are no more moves, you may redeal. To redeal, flip the waste pile over to reform the stock. You may redeal twice per game. The game is over when there are no more moves after the stock is depleted a third time.

To Win

Reverse Order is won if all cards are built onto the foundation piles. If there are no more moves after the stock is depleted a third time and the foundation piles are incomplete, the game is lost.
