How to Play Idle Aces Solitaire

Idle Aces Solitaire Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |

Objective

The objective of Idle Aces is to build the 2s in ascending order to the kings, and the kings in descending order to the aces, regardless of suit, and move four aces to the ace foundation cells.

Setup

Remove a 2 and a king of each suit from the deck. Place a column of two 2s in the center of the tableau and a 2 on each side of the column to form the four 2 foundation piles in the shape of a cross. At the top and bottom of the column of 2s, place a king, and on the sides of the other 2s, place the other two kings to form the four king foundation piles, extending the cross. Leave room for four ace foundation cells. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.

Game Play

The four foundation piles that start with a 2 are built in ascending order to the king, regardless of suit. To add a card to a 2 foundation pile, it must be one rank higher than the top card of the pile it is being played onto. The four king foundation piles are built in descending order to the aces, regardless of suit. To add a card to a king foundation pile, it must be one rank lower than the top card of the pile it is being played onto. The top card of each 2 foundation pile and king foundation pile may be moved onto another foundation pile as long as the previous rules are being followed. There are four ace foundation cells that start empty, and each one may only hold an ace. When an ace enters one of the ace foundation cells, it may not be removed, and no more cards may be added to this cell.

Turn the top card of the stock over to form the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is available for play as long as the previous rules are followed. Continue to add the top card of the stock to the waste pile until the stock is depleted. When the stock is depleted, you may redeal once. To redeal, flip the waste pile over to reform the stock. When there are no more moves after the stock is depleted twice, the game is over.

To Win

Idle Aces is won if the stock and waste pile are depleted and all cards are built onto the eight foundation piles and four foundation cells. If there are no more moves after the stock is depleted a second time, and the foundation piles and foundation cells are not complete, the game is lost.
