How to Play Hit or Miss Card Game

Hit or miss is one of the fastest solitaire games to learn and play. Hit or miss uses one deck of playing cards and does not take up much space.

Hit or Miss Card Game Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 1 Deck |

Objective

The objective of Hit or Miss is to discard cards that match what you are saying as you count out loud.

Setup

Shuffle the cards and place the entire deck face down.

Card Rank

(Lowest Rank) Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King (Highest Rank)

Game Play

Deal one card at a time onto a waste pile. Each time you deal a card, you are going to count out loud, from ace to king. The cards are ranked ace-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-jack-queen-king. As you deal the first card, you say “ace,” deal the second card and say “two,” deal the third card and say “three,” and so on, until you deal the 13th card and say “king.” After you say “king,” you start over counting from ace when you deal the next card.

When you deal a card that matches the rank you said, discard that card from the game. For example, if you say “four” as you flip a 4 of any suit from the stock to the waste pile, discard that card from the game. Continue to deal while counting from where you left off. When the stock is depleted, you may redeal the cards. To redeal the cards, flip the waste pile over to reform the stock. Continue dealing one card at a time and counting from where you left off as the stock was depleted. If you redeal the cards twice in a row, without discarding a card, the game is over.

How to Win Hit or Miss

Hit or Miss is won if all cards are discarded from the game. If you redeal twice in a row without discarding a card, the game is lost.

Variants
