How to Play Four Seasons Solitaire
Four Seasons Solitaire Rules
| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 1 Deck |
Objective
The objective of Four Seasons is to build the four foundation piles in ascending order from the starting card, in suit, until each pile has 13 cards.
Setup
Deal five tableau piles, each with one face-up card, in the form of a cross. Deal one face-up card in the top left corner of the cross to form the first foundation pile. Place the remaining deck face down to form the stock.
Game Play
The first card dealt to form the first foundation pile determines the starting rank for the other three foundation
piles, which will be placed at the other three corners of the cross. When a card of the same rank as the first
foundation pile becomes available for play, move it to start another foundation pile. Foundation piles are built in
ascending order and in suit until each foundation pile contains 13 cards. To play a card onto a foundation pile, it must
be one rank higher and of the same suit as the top card of the pile it is being played on. An ace may be played on a
king to continue the sequence.
Only one card may be moved at a time. The top card of each tableau pile and the top card of the waste pile are available
for play onto another tableau pile or onto a foundation pile. Tableau piles may be built in descending order, regardless
of suit. To add a card to a tableau pile, it must be one rank lower than the top card of the pile it is being played on.
For example, you could play the 3 of spades onto the 4 of clubs, or the 3 of hearts onto the 4 of clubs; either is
acceptable. A king may be played on an ace to continue the sequence. When a tableau pile becomes empty, it may be filled
using the top card of any tableau pile or the top card of the waste pile.
When there are no more moves the player wants to make, flip the top card of the stock over to form or add to the waste
pile. When the stock is depleted and there are no more moves, the game is over.
To Win
Four Seasons is won if all four foundation piles are built in ascending order from the starting card, in suit, to 13 cards. If the stock is depleted and there are no more moves before the foundation piles are completed, the game is lost.
