How to Play Beehive Solitaire
Beehive solitaire is a solitaire matching card game.
Beehive Solitaire Rules
| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 1 Deck |
Objective
The objective of Beehive is to discard all the cards by forming matching sets of four, grouped by rank.
Setup
Deal a stack of 10 face-up cards; this is called the beehive and acts as a reserve pile. Then, lay out two rows of three face-up cards each to make a grid of six cards, forming the six tableau piles. The remaining deck is placed face down in front of you to form the stock.
Game Play
The top card of the beehive, waste pile, and each tableau pile is available for play onto a tableau pile. Each tableau
pile may only contain up to four cards, and all cards must be of the same rank. When a tableau pile has a card that
matches in rank with any other available card, move the available card onto the tableau pile. For example, the 3 of
hearts and the 3 of diamonds match in rank, move one of these cards onto the other. When a tableau pile has four cards
that match in rank, discard the entire pile from the tableau and the game.
When a tableau pile becomes empty, it is filled using the top card of the beehive. Following the previous example, since
a space was made from stacking the 3s together, move the 5 of spades from the beehive to the tableau to fill the space.
If the beehive is depleted, empty tableau piles are filled using the top card of the stock, or the waste pile if the
stock is also depleted.
When there are no more available moves, flip the top three cards of the stock over to form or add to the waste pile. Do
not change the order of the cards when you flip them over to the waste pile. When the stock is depleted, you may redeal
by flipping the waste pile over, without changing the order of the cards, to reform the stock. You may redeal as many
times as you want, until you flip through the entire stock without playing a single card, and then the game is over.
To Win
Beehive is won if the entire deck is discarded in matching stacks of four. If you flip through the entire stock without playing at least one card, the game is lost.
