Game Play

There will be eight foundation piles. When an ace of each suit, and a king of each suit become available, they are moved above the tableau to form a foundation pile. Ace foundation piles are built up in sequence from ace to king in suit. King foundation piles are built down in sequence from king to ace in suit.

The top card of each tableau pile and of each reserve pile are available for play either onto a tableau pile or onto a foundation pile. You may build tableau piles up or down in a suit, only one card at a time. When a tableau pile becomes empty, it may be filled with any available card.

There is no building on the reserves. Cards may only be removed from the reserve if it is being played onto the tableau or a foundation pile. When a reserve pile becomes empty, it is not filled by any card.

When there are no more available moves, deal out two face up cards to each reserve pile from the stock. When there are only eight cards left in the stock, these eight cards are dealt to the tableau piles instead of the reserve piles, face up, one card per pile. Play continues until there are no more moves.

To Win

To win Algerian solitaire, all ace foundation piles must be built up to the king in suit, and all king foundation piles must be built down to ace in suit. If the player runs out of moves before all cards are in the foundation piles, Algerian solitaire is lost.
